Grovekeeper Topoda (No Damage) in Another Crab's Treasure
Defeating Grovekeeper Topoda without taking damage (either health or shell damage). I fought him as the 8th boss (after Heikea). Beating him lets you upgrade adaptations and teaches the mantis punch to break cubes around the world.
This guy hit like a truck and his crush moves were a one-shot for me (I only have 15 VIT from one bloodstar but otherwise leveled ATK) so I switched to two pufferfish stowaways (+10 ATK and -20 DEF each, making normal attacks one-shot me too) and went for the crab hammer since that was available outside.
His normal moves can be kind of weird because sometimes they overshoot you so your parry misses (or he moves past so you can't riposte). Or sometimes his move just comes up short from hitting you. The big thing I learned is his multi-punch attack always follows up with a swing and the iframes from riposte don't last long enough to not be hit by that final swing. For his big crush moves you want to roll as the sound cue for him re-appearing is midway through to ending and that lets you consistently avoid the attack (but on a rare occasion it would bug out and I wouldn't get the audio cue and his reappearance would be delayed which would usually result in being hit and dying).

You can parry red attacks? Can you do the same to blue?
I think it's not all attacks but some of them. For instance, the blue attack where Pagurus makes a stab and takes your shell can be parried but his big slam attack doesn't look like it can be parried. I didn't think his grab could be parried but saw it occurred here.
@@CrankyTemplar that’s just confusing then lol. I’m sure there will be a video saying which are and aren’t able to be parried but I’m not gonna go through the game guessing lol

Might be one of the best mod bosses. It's incredibly underrated how good the modder did at making sure the attack combos gave each other enough clarity to be understood without some bulshit happening. Fantastic work. 9.5/10
Phase 1 and 2 are AMAZING. Only slight complaint is the Soul Warrior spawn can be wonky (either double spawning inside each other or walls which kills readability) Phase 3 has way way way too long in between times to hit the guy, why couldn't he have been floating around during that time so you could try and hit him? 8/10
Great Fight, 9/10 No need to be too complex, but really nice. Kinda surprised Hornet was able to beat this guy.
Amazing Intro experience. But overall 7.5/10... The movement increase and the addition of Siblings Shadows are amazing. The rocking platforms and Sea of void? S tier. But for the Blobs being black? "making things hard to see" is just a miserable design choice. Does it make it harder? sure. But Team Cherry made the explicit decision to never do this for a reason. You could also make the game harder by adding Markoth to every fight, but maybe don't. Losing because you didn't react in time is fun, losing because you are straining your eyes sucks.
This is a really well made boss. A few minor mistakes or areas where it deviates from Hollow Knights Design rules, The only one I'd call out is the excess orange specks in the background that are not dangerous, One of Hollow Knights key aspects is visual clarity (with 1-2 exceptions) Almost all fights do a great job of signaling whats Dangerous vs What isnt. Parts of this fight muddle that. Other than that... I'd say like 9.5/10 of making a End Game fight.

is that the other crab you collected disappears when you die?
It can be equipped in one of three stowaway slots and will presumably revive you if you die (and then it'll disappear). There's another one that will save your microplastics if you die.
I love the humor of this game, you are wearing a crab while weilding an identical crab on a stick for a weapon.

I'd have to check at home for what my PC specs are but my laptop is 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.70 GHz, 16GB of RAM, and a Nvidia GeForce RTX3060. I use my laptop a lot for recording stuff and at the moment HK mods seem to be busted on my home PC so any mods I've been playing on have been on my laptop. And yeah, this is so far a fun souls-like with a bit more goofy humor and colorful setting.

Thats pretty clever.
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I prefer 2's executions. Even the generic thorn ones. It just feels snappier and more efficient than 1's which sometimes feel a second too long and like they're trying to be gross like a Mortal Kombat fatality (which I personally don't care for). As for the thorn executions, I like them in the same way I like Bloodborne's visceral attack. It ain't flashy but it's quick and it feels good every time.
